'Encuentro' Celebrates 25 Years at Special Evening in Winnipeg

Emceed by David Balzer, longtime colleague of Ernesto and Marina at Square One (then Family Life Network), the evening was a mix of sharing stories, good food, videos, and the music of Central American recording artist “Zulmaely."

Neil Block, formerly of the Manitoba M.B. Conference, was instrumental in helping Ernesto begin his radio ministry at Square One (then M.B. Communications) in 1994. 25 years later, Neil and his wife Ruth were there to celebrate:

“I just want to acknowledge God's blessings in last evening's celebration. It was kept real, close to the people you are reaching, and giving thanks and honor to God. For years, we had to go by faith that you knew what God wanted you to do and the people He wanted to reach. Last evening, especially through the music of Zulmaely, you brought your Christian culture to us. She has a beautiful voice and spirit. That she sang mostly in Spanish was exactly the way it should be. "To God be the Glory, great things He has done!"

David Balzer interviews Paul Boge about the process of writing the book “The Sound of Hope: The Ernesto Pinto Story”, especially the time Paul spent in Honduras seeing the people and places so significant to Ernesto’s ministry.

Lorna Boge, center, wrote to share her appreciation for the evening:

“Ahh, thanks Nicole! It was a very lovely evening! I felt it was an historical as well as a spiritual event. So many lives changed for the glory of God. To God be the glory!”

Many thanks to all who took part in planning for the evening, especially Spanish Ministry Administrator Nicole Duerksen!
