Farewell to Sherryl Koop

Sherryl first contracted with Square One to plan the Beautiful Unique Girl (BUgirl) “Glass Slipper Conference” in 2006. Soon after, she became the ministry coordinator for BUgirl, mentoring interns, establishing curriculum, and working with Eric Boorman to plan the cross-Canada tours.

In 2010, Sherryl began working with fundraising initiatives. She was offered the position of Director of Partner Relations and Fundraising in 2014, but the job intimidated her. Her sister said, “It’s time you were scared again, and totally dependent on God.” Sherryl accepted the challenge.

Since then, she has enjoyed being the bridge between those who do the work and those who could support it. She believes both groups are needed for ministry to flourish.

Eric says Sherryl’s role was vital to the ministry. “Sherryl’s extremely caring and detail oriented personality was the perfect fit for staying connected with the touring team, and also the churches we were ministering with.”

In 2019, Sherryl became the host and storyteller on “A Skoop of Life”. Initially a weekly radio program aired only in southern Manitoba, it is now a weekly podcast with listeners from all over the world, and all walks of life.

As she leaves Square One, she comments, “I’m grateful for the chance to minister at Square One with such a diverse and lovely group of people, all working towards sharing the message of Jesus Christ.”

Sherryl sees life as adventure and people as friends. A favourite life motto is, “Invest in people because they give the best rate of return!” We wish her the very best as she follows God on the adventure.
