Over the past few years, Square One has been prioritizing spreading the word of our mission not just here in Winnipeg, but across Canada. We want Canadians to know the impact we are having around the world in bringing people the life-changing message of Jesus Christ in their own language and in ways that are relevant to their culture and everyday life.
We’re happy to say that we’ve increased our ability to reach our fellow Canadians thanks to the hard and faithful work of our regional liaisons, who have been attending events and speaking at churches throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta.
Karen Cline, one of our Alberta liaisons, hosted a few events in the Edmonton area this September, connecting with pastors and donors and, since starting her role in May 2023, has enjoyed her experience as a Square One representative.
“The words 'honoured' and 'encouraged' encapsulate my feelings as a regional liaison,” Karen says. “I have the great privilege of contacting and getting to know donors, all previously unknown to me, who affirm the vision, the mandate, and the resultant ministries of Square One. Many of the donors have been faithful in prayer and giving for decades!”
Meanwhile, Terry Liske has been actively sharing our mission at conferences and church meetings in Saskatchewan over the past 3 years. This year, Terry was able to share at the Waldheim Missions Conference and also make a presentation at a large church in Saskatoon.
“Working out of province as a representative for Square One, I get to see how God is at work from ‘outside the box’,” says Terry. “Conversing with donors and potential new donors, I hear how Square One has made a difference in their lives and how they are encouraged by the programs that are changing lives around the world.
“It’s a great reminder that media has a great influence upon lives and makes in-roads where sometimes, personally, we can’t.”
We’re also happy to introduce Sydney Hiebert as the newest addition to our regional liaison team! Residing in Cochrane, AB, Sydney will be representing Square One in the greater Calgary area.
“I first heard about Square One when my son started listening to Cottonwood Trails,” Sydney says, when asked about how she found the position. “I thought it sounded well produced and the Gospel message was clearly shared in each episode. I checked out Square One's website, read up on its history in media production, and noticed there was a regional liaison position open for the Calgary area. Having a background in missions and donor connection, I applied and am overjoyed to have been accepted for the position!”
With help from Sydney and potential future liaisons in B.C. and southern Ontario, we hope that the word of our Christ-centred media projects would allow us to unite with Christians across the country.
“I believe God has blessed Square One with a continuing legacy of living out the great commission,” Sydney continues. “It’s exciting to invite others into partnering with this incredible mission that reaches such diverse audiences across the world! I look forward to learning more about the reach of our programs and hearing more testimonies of how these have been used to share the Gospel.”
